We are a charity, supported by your local councils, providing a door to door minibus service in the Aylesbury Vale area for anyone who finds it difficult to use ordinary public transport.
We aim to give our members a reliable, personal service. Our well-trained friendly drivers will give you the support you need at the beginning and end of your journey. All our members welcome the freedom and independence that our service, with its specially adapted minibuses, can give them.
All our vehicles are specially adapted, have passenger lifts or ramps and are in radio contact with our base so that wheelchair users can travel safely and in comfort. They also have many other adaptations so that we can carry people with a range of disabilities.
If
you find it difficult or impossible to use existing public transport, we will
welcome you as a member.
Our members are often elderly, frail or with mental health problems or learning difficulties - permanent or temporary. But you don’t need to be elderly or a wheelchair user to join, and people of all ages use our service.
If a bus is available we will take you anywhere in the Aylesbury Vale district

We can also take you outside the district if enough members want to go. You can go shopping, visit friends, doctors surgeries, social events - any kind of trip you want to make. But we cannot take you somewhere when another transport service has an obligation to take you.
If a vehicle and a driver are available you can also hire a bus for private functions. Please phone us for more information.
All assistance dogs travel free.
About PDF (Portable Document Format) files - you need
the free Acrobat Reader to view them. Not to worry because most
computers come with Acrobat Reader pre-installed. If however your computer
does not know how to open a PDF file, you may
download
Adobe's Acrobat Reader for free by clicking on the logo. Many
web-sites and other organisations already distribute documents as PDF so if you
haven't got it, it's certainly a worthwhile download.
After you have registered with Dial-A-Ride you can travel as often as you like. You book a trip by phoning us in advance and telling us when and where you want to go and when you want to come back. Because we want to help as many people as possible each day, we may ask you to slightly change your journey times. But if we possibly can, we will keep to your preferred times. We will always do our very best to find you a seat, but very occasionally our buses might be just too busy for us to take you.
Our buses are equipped with lifts or ramps and are adapted for people with
all types of disability. Wheelchair passengers can travel in safety in their
wheelchair, or in a padded, high-back seat.
You can travel Monday to Friday between 8am to 5pm.
You pay an annual membership fee of £8.00 and pay fares to the driver when you travel. Fares depend upon the length of the journey and are a little more expensive than bus fares, but a lot cheaper than taxis. See examples of fares for some popular trips. Our members are usually eligible for Aylesbury Vale District Council travel tokens. You can get £30 of tokens from the council every year, and you can use these to pay all, or part of, your Dial-A-Ride fare. Further details are available on AVDC's web-site at http://www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/services/ (the link will open in a new window).
